Jewish War Veterans Post 54 will be hosting Alexi Vahlkamp, LCSW, as guest speaker on the topic of hospice and palliative care at Hines VA hospital at their March 12 at 10 am meeting.
The meeting will be held online via Zoom. Our guest speaker, Alexi coordinates the Hospice and Palliative Care program at Hines VA hospital in Hines, IL. Alexi will review hospice and palliative care, VA hospice benefits for eligible Veterans, and discuss specific services available at Hines. She’ll also discuss the No Veteran Dies Alone (NVDA) program, a volunteer cohort who sit vigil with Veterans on the Hines inpatient hospice unit at end of life.
While this program mainly focuses on services available to Veterans, the presentation should be of interest to anyone who has family members in hospice or who see hospice or palliative care in their future (which could be many of us!).
The meeting is open to anyone interested in the topic. We hope you can attend. We encourage you to invite others, be they veterans, non-veterans, seniors, caregivers or providers.
