SAUDI ARABIA SHOULD BE CITED FOR INTOLERANCE

Winter 2003

For over one hundred years the Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) has vigorously opposed bigotry, anti-Semitism and terrorism - here and abroad! Today Saudi Arabia stands as one of the world's most bigoted, most intolerant nations on the face of the earth. The State Department's recent report on global religious practices clearly notes the Saudi prohibition on the practice of non-Muslim religions in public. "Non-Muslim worshippers risk arrest, imprisonment, lashing, deportation and sometimes torture. . ." JWV National Commander Daniel Weiss stated that the U.S. State Department must include the Saudis, along with North Korea, Iraq, Iran Sudan, China and Burma, on its list of nations of particular concern. The Saudis are a nation of systematic religious intolerance, particularly toward those of the Christian and Jewish faith. There are no synagogues in Saudi Arabia and Jews are not welcome there. Even Christian and Jewish members of the U.S. military, there to protect the Saudis, have had to conceal their religious affiliation in various ways. NC Daniel Weiss wants the Saudis labeled as violators of religious freedom by the State Department. "This step is long overdue," said Commander Weiss!
