Saudi Arabia Partners with Al Quaeda in Economic Destabilization

Summer 2007

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) condemns OPEC's decision, led by our ostensible ally Saudi Arabia, to further cut oil production, effective April 1, 2004 (April Fools Day) to maintain the high price of oil, making funds available to support the aims of terrorists such as Al Quaeda. Such a decision can lead only to further destabilization of the world's economy and can serve only to suit the purposes of those who wish harm to world economic stability and progress. This move will drive currently high oil prices even higher, and plays directly into the aims and actions of Al Quaeda and the other Islamic fundamentalist groups that wish us harm by impeding global economic activity and causing economic uncertainty in the world community. This intentional reduction in oil production, which has been orchestrated by Saudi Arabia, further serves to stall the possibility of an Arab Summit to deal with the introduction of democracy in the Middle East brought about by the coalition victory in Iraq. The Saudi Royal family once again seeks protection against democracy's finding its way into their family's control of Saudi Arabia. As we did in our February 17, 2004, letter to the President, Vice-President, and Secretaries of State, Defense, and Energy, the JWV urges action to counter OPEC's decision. The immediate maximization of the production of oil from Iraq's vast reserves could help to loosen the grip of OPEC on world oil markets and economic stability. Opening up this reserve would further allow the accumulation of proceeds available to improve the police and security apparatus in Iraq and aid in Iraqi reconstruction, both of which would lead to the stabilization of that country as a democratic nation in the midst of the dictatorships of the Middle East. One of the reasons given by our government for not being able to do this was that Iraq is an OPEC member—pure nonsense. Although Iraq is a member of OPEC, allocation requirements do not apply because of the Oil for Food program. It is no coincidence that the majority of the hijackers on September 11 were Saudis. Saudi Arabia's lead in reducing OPEC oil production furthers the aims of Al Quaeda to destabilize and destroy the world economy and prevent the flourishing of democracy in the Arab countries of the Middle East. America's "moderate" friend once again shows its "friendship."
