JWV Welcomes Nomination of General Eric Shinseki to Be Secretary of Veterans Affairs

December 2008

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) congratulates General Eric Shinseki on his naming as Secretary of Veterans Affairs in the incoming Obama administration. The JWV has worked with General Shinseki previously when he was Army Chief of Staff, and we look forward to working with him closely again as he takes on this new assignment.

The challenges facing the Department of Veterans Affairs are great as the Department faces the daunting task of tending to the needs of the many veterans, wounded both physically and emotionally, who are returning from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

We hope that Secretary-designate Shinseki will work, as he has stated, "each and every day to ensure that we are serving you as well as you have served us. We will pursue a 21st century VA that serves your needs."

The JWV pledges to assist Secretary-designate Shinseki in meeting these most important goals and looks forward to working with him to give our veterans the best care and assistance possible.
