JWV Urges Withdrawal from Libya if Lockerbie Terrorist not Extradited

September 2011

The Libyan National Transitional Council has recently declared that the extradition of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, convicted Lockerbie bomber, was not a priority.

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) condemns the new Libyan government for this position and calls on President Obama to withdraw US air support and aid to the Libyan rebels until al-Megrahi is brought to justice by being returned to jail in Scotland.

The United States, through its membership in NATO, has provided the Libyan rebels with critical air support and supplies in their fight to overthrow Moammar Gadhafi. It is an outrage that they now refuse to extradite a convicted terrorist who is responsible for the deaths of 270 innocent people, including 189 Americans.

The JWV urges President Obama to demand the extradition of al-Megrahi or immediately withdraw United States aid and air support. Al-Megrahi must be brought to justice.
