JWV Supports Tax Relief for Activated National Guard and Reserve Troops

Spring 2006

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) wholeheartedly supports the call for local and state officials to waive property tax collections for activated Army National Guard and United States Army Reserve personnel until they are relieved of active duty, thus alleviating the financial pressures on the families of these patriots. The Guard and Reserves troops of our nation continue to bear an unprecedented share of the burden of defending our country against terrorists who would destroy our country and our way of life. In many cases, the family breadwinner is torn from a high-paying job and put into a position where he or she can no longer provide the family left behind with the support that they need. Our Guard and Reserve troops are defending us on the front lines. It is important for us to help support those families that they have left behind. Waiving property tax collections on these activated troops during the period of their deployment would be a meaningful step in helping to alleviate the financial stress faced by the families of these brave men and women. America's citizen defenders deserve a practical recognition by not imposing draconian conditions while they actively serve our Nation.
