JWV Proudly Announces Its 25th Allied Veteran Mission to Israel

October 2010

From October 7-17, 2010, JWV's 25th Allied Veterans Mission to Israel brought leaders from major veterans groups to visit Israel and see for themselves the thriving democracy that is under constant attack from those who would see its destruction.

Under the leadership of National Commander Stephen Zeitz, members of JWV's own leadership mission and Allied Veterans sponsored by JWV Departments throughout the country toured Israel, met with its leaders, both military and civilian, and saw the miracle that is Israel for themselves.

Members of the Mission are guests of the JWV and tour both Jewish and non-Jewish sites on their visit. They go back to their own organizations with a zeal for Israel and its defense and become ambassadors for Israel to the non-Jewish community both within their own groups and in the wider community.

Over the 25 years of the Mission, at least 10 Allied Vets have been included on each trip, and some have gone on to even higher office and greater influence within their own organizations. Israel has no better friends within the greater veterans community than those who have gone on the JWV's Allied Veterans Mission.

This 25th Mission also included a most special once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join with Jewish veterans from around the world in commemorating the 50th anniversary of TZEVET (the organization of IDF veterans) on Oct. 10, 2010. On hand for this special commemoration were Israeli President Shimon Peres, Secretary of Defense Ehud Barak, and the IDF Chief of Staff.

JWV is proud to have sponsored these 25 opportunities for non-Jewish leaders in other veterans organizations to become spokesmen for Israel within their organizations and communities, and we look forward to many years to come of these inspiring visits. As we welcome home the participants in our 25th Mission, we are already planning our future visits.
