JWV Protests Possible Rise in Health Care Fees for Military Retirees

May 2011

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) protests a proposal from the Department of Defense to help balance its budget by increasing health care fees for working-age military retirees.

These military retirees, who have given 20 or more years of their lives to the defense of their country, have been promised and have earned these benefits.

While the Department of Defense and the entire Federal government must make significant budget cutbacks at this time of a ballooning federal debt, it is imperative that these cutbacks not be made on the backs of those who have put their lives on the line to defend it. It is vital that the Department of Defense look to areas of fraud and waste to reduce their expenditures, not at increasing the fees charged to those who have served.

Military retirees have given their best to their country; they do not deserve to be used as a tool to balance an out-of-control budget.

The JWV protests any possible increase in health care fees for military retirees and urges its members to protest these potential increases by contacting their senators and representatives.
