JWV Congratulates U.S. Military for the Elimination of bin Laden

May 2011

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) joins with the entire country in congratulating the U.S. military in the recognition of the effectiveness of our military in their operation to eliminate Osama bin Laden, the architect of the September 11 attacks and so many other terrorist operations.

We join with President Obama in congratulating our troops who have worked so relentlessly in the offensive against terrorism since 9/11:

"We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation, for they exemplify the professionalism, patriotism, and unparalleled courage of those who serve our country. And they are part of a generation that has borne the heaviest share of the burden since that September day."

While the death of bin Laden does not end the threats of terrorism with which we cope daily, it is a significant milestone in our ongoing war against the forces that wish to annihilate the United States and our way of life. In reality, we must be on heightened alert in the face of possible retaliation against our actions by bin Laden's network of associates.

However, despite the possibility of increased security threats, today is a day to celebrate the achievements of our military both for today's events and for the burden they have borne on behalf of the American people over the past decade.

The JWV salutes the U.S. military today and every day!
