Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA has condemned as an act of war the cowardly and unprovoked terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and elsewhere, which have claimed thousands of innocent lives. The condemnation was issued by JWV National Commander Bernard Becker this morning, following the terrorist actions. "With these barbaric attacks, so similar to those waged against the people of Israel, the terrorists have made Jews of all Americans," Becker said. "Our people in the Pentagon, in the Twin Towers in New York, and on aircraft seized and crashed across America, died for where they lived and what they believed, just as certainly as any Israeli sitting in an SBarro pizzeria in Jerusalem." Even as the most backward and hostile elements of the world community were waging their attack on Western civilization at the recent Conference on Racism in Durban, South Africa, the plans for these cowardly attacks were undoubtedly being made...perhaps even by some of those present in Durban. Yet, as America is mustering its resources to treat the wounded and seek the perpetrators, news comes that hundreds of Palestinians have poured into the streets within Palestinian Authority-controlled areas, celebrating the news of the attacks on America- a glorification of terror and violence, and not as an avenue toward peace, but as a way of life in itself. Will the US State Department, longtime apologists for terrorism, advise the US to follow the advice they so often give the Israelis? Will they advise us to seek to "lower the level of tension," refusing to find a difference between terrorists and innocent victims? If the attack had been on the State Department building instead of the Pentagon, what would they have to tell us? "Some announcers have referred to these incidents as the beginning of World War III. In truth, the world has been at war for over 20 years, as US culture, with its emphasis on personal freedoms and an open society, has spread across the globe, " Becker said. "The Taliban in Afghanistan, the Ayatollahs in Iran, the rigid monarchies and theocracies of the near and far east, fear and hate the freedoms America has offered to the world. The terrorists are their surrogates in their fight to maintain their grip on their peoples, and fear is their weapon."
