Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America

First Annual National Service Honoring the Jewish Fallen Heroes of Iraq and Afghanistan held

on Memorial Day Weekend, 2011

Spring 2011

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) and the National Museum of American Jewish Military History (NMAJMH) were proud to sponsor the First Annual National Service Honoring the Jewish Fallen Heroes of Iraq and Afghanistan in Washington, DC, at the 6th and I Historic Synagogue, on Friday, May 27, 2011.

At this service, and at services throughout the country, the names of the more than 40 Jewish Fallen Heroes of Iraq and Afghanistan were read in solemn tribute and memory on the weekend set aside to remember all of those brave Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country throughout our history.

NMAJMH President David Magidson led the tribute at the service at the 6th and I synagogue. The JWV and NMAJMH were honored to have family members and friends of several of the Fallen Heroes at the service. They included Mrs. Rimma Tarlavsky (Capt. Michael Y. Tarlavsky), Beth Agami and Sandra Becker (Pfc. Daniel J. Agami), Esther Wolfer (Maj. Stuart A. Wolfer), Melinda Kane, Daniel and Benjamin Kane (Lance Cpl. Jeremy M. Kane), and Matt Gold (soldier friend of Stuart Wolfer).

JWV Life Patron certificates were given to family members Rimma Tarlavsky, Yury Tarlavsky (who was unable to attend), Melinda Kane, Esther Wolfer, and Beth Agami.

In support of the First Annual National Service, the names of the fallen were read at services and memorials from California to New York, from Michigan to Florida, and all points in between.

The JWV and NMAJMH were honored to sponsor this first annual service and look forward to this service becoming a regular feature of services on Memorial Day Weekend from this year forward.

Our most fervent prayer is that no names are added to the Roll of the Fallen in the years to come.
