Bring Ground Zero to the Enemy

“as our case is new, so we must

think anew and act anew. We must

disenthrall ourselves, and then are save our country”

Abraham Lincoln

It can’t happen here!!! - It did ... with over 6,000 innocent dead civilians. Some people are trying to tell us why it happened. There is absolutely no excuse which will justify this senseless murder other than the terrorist’s callous indifference to life, unless you are one who would willingly venerate, as an acceptable form of conduct the rape of 5 year old girls and 4 year old boys.

I began this opinion piece before the October 7th aerial attack on the Taliban. So, I merely update my basic call for the viable alternative of tactical or other nuclear communion as one resolution to the control of the spread of terrorism.

We attacked and the British immediately bonded into the Coalition. 4 others pledged to provide forces. 40 or more other nations agreed in part. Iraq and Iran and a number of the Pakistanis and Palestinians called the United States “terrorists”. Islamic Jihad, Hamas and other hate/terrorist groups pledged to “continue the intifada and the resistance to Israel occupation.” Moral integrity played no part in the major response.

After World War Two, economic growth in Europe defeated the Soviet Union with democracy as a beneficiary. The essential mechanism allowing for the over 40 years of growth was through the simple benefit of the existence of competing nuclear weaponry allowing for the stalemate between the two superpowers  of the United States and the Soviet Union.

Then, political leaders pursued policies and trends based on mind directing surrounds obscuring what is characterized as thinking. They had been contaminated by the mystiques of “polls” and “public opinion” – which won the day while America lost its way.

In Vietnam, we undertook our Allies’ obligation; they later turned on us and condemned our desire for a victorious conclusion. We left in defeat with over 58,000 American dead - we wimped out in the face of adverse American public opinion. Iran held our Embassy and our representatives hostage, we did nothing other than to wimp out and to confirm to the Islamic terrorist that we are neither Super nor are we a Power. When the Islamic fundamentalists bombed us in Beirut, we stood tall - and ran. When we were bombed at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the Saudis prevented us from investigating and then refused to disclose the names of the perpetrators; which we accepted rather than to offend our “moderate friends” - the best part of this one is that we had considered Osama bin Ladin as responsible for the American deaths and then we hired the Bin Ladin family construction company to rebuild our base in Saudi Arabia - we really wimped on this one. We replayed the Saudi theme when the terrorist attacked the USS Cole in Yemen.

The best, of course, was the Gulf War when we traded victory over Sadam Hussein for a 100 hour TV mini-series because our Mid-Eastern coalition allies felt that we had gone too far and pressured us to leave Iraq since the war was not playing too well on their home territory - we wimped out and accepted a nation now unconstrained in creating weapons of mass destruction and providing support for the terrorists.

Now, after just a few days of aerial attack, once again our Mid-East friends ask that we cease or dramatically reduce our endeavors. Some of them have offered vocal support, rather than military assets. As long as we hold to our purpose, we will not become sycophants creating a coalition which is just a public relations farce.

For openers, we must be able to create and maintain a sustained response to the terror without referring to a poll or accepting self-serving advice from our allies.

Unfortunately in our rhetoric, we rushed to superimpose apprehensiveness, fear and insecurity upon our own citizens, granting the terrorist a measured road to victory.

Enhancing airport and making other security requirements are necessary and reasonable protections. But, our government in its haste seeks to enact ill-considered and un-tested anti-terrorist legislation such as expanded wiretapping, Big Brother’s ID cards, and other constraints straight-jacketing the rights of our citizens; we have allowed fear to grip the United States and take its citizens hostage. If we proceed in a calm and professional way to secure safety and way of life, we will not trade off our constitutional protections for an illusion of security.

So, let’s not go through the illusions of coalitions which become meaningless public opinion forays. As a superpower, we must, if necessary, act as one on a unilateral basis. In the end, we will find that it shall not be necessary.

You can’t accept your “allies” call for “credible” evidence while, at the same time,  your citizens lay in jeopardy of dying. Some Coalition friends mimic our enemies and say they will fully commit when presented with credible evidence. What they are really saying is “we are with you, but don’t expect any help from us”. They will refer to the terrorists as being “freedom fighters” who, without consequence, kill innocent civilians to accomplish a political or pseudo religious result. We should never allow the day to come when we bind ourselves to embrace polls, world public opinion or Anti-American rallies as a jury to determining credible evidence or what actions we undertake as to protect ourselves as a nation. Never should we be embarrassed into self-defeat.

For example, the United Nations Security Council unanimously passed a resolution on terrorism granting the United States the right of self-defense in the fight against terrorism. Russia and China voted with the United States. They voted not because they love us or are concerned with our citizens. They voted because they have and now face the same threat from Islamic Fundamentalism in their own countries, threatening their governments. They join us because they have no other place to go for their own protection... we need not bribe them to accept our mission and protection, but we can reject them if they fail to cooperate by providing the United States with intelligence and rights to use of overflights of their airspace and bases. Coalitions should never be available for use as shields for Trojan Horse allies or even convenient friends.

It’s very strange, that at the same time as we conduct aerial attacks on terror, we accept the terrorist nation of Syria as a new member of the UN Security Council overseeing world peace. Inconsistency of action sends the wrong message at a chicken coop. Were they there just a week ago, there would have been no unanimity against terror.

Initially, let us undertake to annihilate the terrorists and their camps individually and collectively wherever they may be. Well over 6,000 people who were innocent civilians have been “collaterally damaged”. Terror’s actions show their lack of moral concern or the existence of any integrity. The terrorists have prescribed the rules by which they want to play the game and we should adopt those rules in this fight and we should proceed to exterminate them. Does this make us any better than them? Could be – but we will be alive in our democracy while they are dead in their hell. Survival and growth will be our reward.

God did not create man to cherry pick those men, women and children who were selected to die in the World Trade Towers or the Holocaust, nor did God give man the power to control death - those men stole it from God under the guise of religion - so I guess that other men have the right to take control and erase the usurpers who murder without remorse or compassion.

At the same time, while there has been a general “acceptance” of the American response against the Taliban, the United States should still give the six month notice required under the ABM Treaty to terminate our obligations thereunder. This would be a positive that the fight is not limited but seeks the elimination of global terrorism. It will definitively demonstrate our intention to go forward alone, if that be necessary. Let them all cry foul as long as they become fully aware that they will not be given the opportunity to barter away American lives.

Finally, as a matter of American policy, as it was in Europe, any nation which finances, trains, harbors or in any way supports the terrorist groups will be made the possible recipient of a nuclear weaponry response. Each nation has the obligation to the world to police itself against the creation of terror.

If the attack does come, that nation would be subjected to the use of nuclear weaponry in an orchestrated step by step staged sequential manner so as to destroy the infrastructure of that nation starting with its war making and defense capabilities and then its industrial and financial abilities until there is either a non-negotiable total and complete surrender or annihilation.

Frankly, the proposal is simple, or, for that matter, any other plan that may be created or presented for immediate implementation should essentially appear to be simple to avoid any quandary as to what is meant to be accomplished and avoid the necessity of any mass Gulf War type invasion which might put American lives at risk or in danger.

Our allies and so-called friends may call us arrogant, callous and whatever for presenting the nuclear weaponry approach. The threat entwined with the desire and the ability to implement the response will create the result which probably imposes the obligation for all to work together to eradicate the threat which destabilizes them as well us. We are requiring compromises with principles to accomplish political calm for a coalition’s internal usage. The bottom line is that they really have no other place to go and no-one else to protect them

Will it result in an all out nuclear war - it didn’t for over forty years in Europe. Those nations, governments and groups who have harbored, supplied and financed the terror groups will now have a very defined mission - police their own countries and get rid of the terrorists, or be on notice that their conduct is not only not acceptable, but that their existence is on the table.

Mere survival for America is also not acceptable; there is more to life than a shallow existence subject to the whims, the polls and opinions of a world which doesn’t give a damn about us.

   President Bush said:

“And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe             haven to terrorism. Every nation in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded as a hostile regime.”

Bush has started what appears to be an implementation of his statement; but do you really believe that he means it and will fully follow through with implementing actions to fulfill the promise without being side-tracked by purely political purposes? I really hope so; 911 is not merely a date, it is a call for help and action.
