Subject: Action: Working together to fight anti-Semitism and protect the Veteran

  • JWV attendance at rally to protest visit of Iranian President Ahmadinejad in NY was very disappointing showing a defined need for Action Committee and telephone squads
    • there was some confusion over the location of the rally
    • some had not received notification although message was sent through several media including JWV e-mail list
  • Important to act locally to fight incidents where they happen
  • In NJ, Monmouth County works with prosecutors and has effective program of maintaining an award fund for information leading to conviction of people perpetrating anti-Semitic acts
    • Important to make reward contingent on conviction and not just arrest
  • Recent ruling in case of Mojave Cross upheld JWV view in analogous Mt. Soledad Cross case
  • For Mt. Soledad case JWV needs help of JWV’ers in San Diego to contact their Senators to ask for response to recent JWV open letter asking them to revise their positions
  • In recent decision on JWV case regarding Mt. Soledad, three Congressmen were ordered to turn over papers JWV had demanded
  • Recent MySpace video of Hitler eating Jews as cookies was removed from site quickly after pressure
  • No indication as yet that officers who participated in illegal “Christian Embassy” video as highlighted in JWV press release of August 2007 have been punished
  • Must respond to anti-Semitic letters to the editor as individuals, not as JWV members, in order to maximize chance that letters will be published
  • If an individual member does not want to respond directly to a letter, he should send it to PNC Warren S. Dolny or PNC Monte Mayer for follow up
  • Important to work with other Jewish groups at the National or local level to increase numbers of those protesting and to add unique JWV perspective to protest
