- Suggestions to retain members/find new members
- Have an activity as well as publicity. If you can get various activities going/publicized you’ll be able to get members.
- Host Veterans Shabbats during November. It’s an opportunity to introduce JWV to the congregation.
- Get members to serve on committees to make them more involved.
- Advertise in local newspapers
- Leave JWV official business to executive board meetings
- Get media coverage
- Make the online forum more active
- Attend local community meetings wearing the JWV hat
- Be active in other veterans organizations and Jewish organizations
- Make it clear that active duty military can become members at no charge
- One participant invested in magnetic signs for JWV which he puts on the side of his car - it cost him $25.
- Innovative programming
- Host homeless veterans Thanksgiving dinner
- Ask perspective members to join for a free breakfast buffet
- First year of dues free for new members
- Interesting speakers
- Outreach to local schools and synagogues
- New online Post and online membership form
