Subject: Long-Term Planning

  • For long-term planning purposes, important to implement the Preamble to JWV Constitution as a road map for goals
  • Focus should be on membership
  • Emphasis on local issues for Posts to attract new members and get attention from local community
  • Posts should look for ways to be on new media such as Facebook and Twitter to attract new and younger members
  • Attract new members by means of programming that appeals to their interests
  • Unlike other Jewish organizations, JWV interacts with greater non-Jewish community, which is a strength for the Jewish community
  • In current bad economy JWV has an opportunity to influence state veterans' budgets
  • Must accept current period of turbulence and change as a challenge that must be accepted
  • Possible reorganization to meet new challenges
  • Possibility of creating virtual posts for new members who don't have time or desire to attend meetings
  • Possibility of use of JWV Online forum as way of expanding organization
