Subject: Leadership

  • Important to bring news of local Posts to the attention of local press
  • Must get word of all Post activities into local papers - All news is local
  • Each Post should have a member who is liaison to local media
  • National Headquarters does not have the staff to do local media liaison
  • Post commanders should develop programs that create excitement among membership so people will want to attend meetings and other activities
  • Meetings can be place to set up other activities and actions
  • Leadership involves getting new people excited by new ideas and letting them set up programs under the mentorship of older leaders to give new people an opportunity to lead; established leaders must provide guidance and support to new members to encourage them to be leaders themselves
  • Each Post must have activities to fit its own demographic; there isn't just one model
  • Leadership must be transferred from one generation to the next
  • To attract new members, it is important to mention Jewishness of organization
  • Important to emphasize to each member the importance of his job to encourage new leadership
