Subject:Funding for the National Museum
- We need to concentrate on ways to fundraise
- We currently have $300,000 toward the permanent exhibit, we need $500-750,000 to complete it.
- We also need more money for operations costs.
- New fundraising programs:
- Paver program
- This program will produce $100,000 for the museum.
- Bricks are 4x8 ($250) or 8x8 ($500). We already have some bricks reserved
- The area in front of the building – steps and landing – will accommodate approximately 500 pavers. Permanent fixture at our building.
- We have already received $7,000 worth of payments and pledges.
- We will take a picture of your personal paver and send it to you – that way you can see it even if you can’t get to the museum.
- Veterans Week
Grants
- We have all the numbers we need to send out grant solicitations
- 501 (c)(3) status has been granted – we now have a JWV Foundation
Other suggestions for fundraising?
- Send emails to local community members
- Add local community members to the email distribution lists
- National auction
- Conducted over the course of the year
- Invite noted individuals from around the country to provide items of significance
- Raffle
- Award large items
- $100 per ticket
- Promote certificate program more
- Every Echelon should be a member of the museum. Every JWV member should be a member of the museum.
- Encourage non-JWV members to join the museum
- The museum’s name should be mentioned more on the JWV site. It should be spelled out, not referred to as NMAJMH.
- NMAJMH’s website needs to contain a plan for the new development and the fundraising that we’re doing. We need to give more information
- Need to get people with clout involved with our organization. Come up with a strategy of approach, schedule one-on-one meetings.
- Encourage people to leave money to the museum in their estates.
