Subject: National Museum of American Jewish Military History

  • Recent celebration and dinner honoring 75th anniversary of JWV very successful due to efforts of PNC David Magidson and the banquet by PNC Ed Goldwasser
  • Yahrzeit program

    • Program has been a failure to this point
    • Company that had originally worked on this with us has gone out of business
    • NMAJMH now has full control of program, that has been improved on, and we are seeking a patent on the program
    • Need marketing plan to sell it to other organizations
    • Possibility of asking for biographical information while people are still alive might get better information for Yahrzeit program after their death
    • Program can be advertised in coordination with TAPS in magazine
  • American Jewish Military Heritage Program (Dr. Ray Biondo, Chairman)

    • According to Dr. Ray Biondo, program currently has 150-175 citations on web site (http://www.nmajmh.org/americanJewish/index.php)
    • NMAJMH needs assistance to increase number of citations
    • Look forward to working with American Jewish Historical Society and Association for Jewish Studies to create an academic council for museum and increase citations in program (www.ajhs.org; www.ajs.org)
    • Will look into membership in both organizations
    • Call for volunteers to check citations has not been successful
  • Legacy program to set up Circle of Donors (Seymour Weinstein, Legacy Officer)

    • Donors to sign non-binding letter of intent to support museum during their lifetime or after death
    • Members of Circle should be treated to special events and/or dinners at National Convention or other venues
    • Circle of Donors is way to bring potential donors into museum organization
  • Seeking ideas to celebrate 50th anniversary of Federal charter of museum upcoming in September 2008
  • Donations to museum at recently concluded Board of Directors' meeting down considerably from previous meetings; possible cause may be other activities such as contributions to events surrounding 75th march anniversary
  • Museum is applying to be considered for CFC program to which Federal employees and military make contributions
