Subject: Long-Term Planning

  • Important to address future viability of the JWV
  • Importance of financial planning by asking to be included in members' estate planning
  • Posts should partner with synagogues and JCCs at local level to go after new members, but, on the whole, synagogues are not very cooperative
  • Offer to do an educational program for synagogues as way to form partnership
  • Posts need to look at their spending to be prepared for possible drop in membership as older members pass away
  • Important to offer something to new members to keep interested
  • Must offer new members substantive role in posts and work through them to get their friends to become members
  • Must ensure that posts are vital and conducting meetings by closing inactive posts and merging posts to form more active groups
  • Proposal that no one should be Post Commander for more than 2 years
  • Too many Posts have become just breakfast clubs and don't have enough JWV programs
