Subject: Women in the Military
- WWII women veterans who were not in medical corps had almost no military training
- Women vets were present in EVAC hospitals during liberation of the concentration camps
- Women veterans now do full range of duties, including riding on patrols, military policing, security
- Sexual harassment not an especially severe problem in today’s military
- Since the Johnson Administration women are allowed to go up the military advancement ladder just like their male counterparts and are recognized equally for their job performance
- As of March 2007, approximately 70 women had been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan
- Defense Department Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) reports that the military has shortages of women in the professions to include doctors, lawyers and clergy
- Women are currently serving in all areas of the service, including flying in the Thunderbirds
