Subject:NEC- Plans and Preparations
- NEC is March 6-10
- The National Commander will not be giving testimony during the NEC. It will be given Thursday, March 22nd.
- Tuesday is a Capitol Hill Action Day
- Make appointments with your local representatives to come in at a certain time. They prefer to get some forewarning of your visit.
- Make sure to invite your representatives to our Congressional reception
- The key legislative topics were sent out by email. They include:
- VA funding
- PTSD, TBI care for veterans
- VA claims backlog
- Cyber Warfare
- DOD and Iran – we need to maintain an adequate force and adequate equipment
- It’s important to use our talking points
- Always remember that there’s a possibility we’ll win. Examples:
- Creating the VA as a separate department
- Concurrent receipt
- Agent Orange repayments
- Tibor Rubin’s records reviewed, which led to his receiving the CMOH
- Remember:
- Stay positive
- Tell them what we need and want
- We can win!
- Fill out your evaluation sheets. Herb does follow up on them to see how your representatives responded.
