Subject: Business at the Post and Department Levels
- All echelons are required to submit a form 990 to the IRS. The shortest form is 990-N, which can only be completed on the internet. A receipt showing that the form has been submitted to the IRS should be sent to National HQ.
- The JWV Program Guide is a valuable resource for all echelon commanders. A copy can be downloaded from the JWV website: http://www.jwv.org/images/uploads/Program_Guide_updated.pdf
- Many of the necessary forms for posts and departments can now be found on the JWV website.
- It's very important for all department and post commanders to get involved with recruiting new members:
- Go to welcome home ceremonies to meet potential members.
- Once you get younger veterans to join, encourage them to get involved and take on leadership positions.
- Some posts have decided to pay the first year dues of new members.
- Also important to encourage JWV members to join and support the NMAJMH.
