- IT Committee objectives are to establish Internet-based communication system for all echelons and to facilitate the rapid transfer of information during a crisis
- Objectives are not close to being met at this point
- Department of TALO has set up a website (http://www.dtalojwv.net) that they had hoped could be used as a template for other echelons, but the website is difficult to update as it is in HTML
- JWV is in the process of developing a website that will be available to other echelons to use as a template for a one-time fee of $75 and can be hosted on the JWV server
- Hope to have basic instructions for website development after template is available
- Whether site can be password protected is still to be determined
- JWV will wait until website is up and running before a general announcement is made to the membership
- Any echelon can establish its own site and link to jwv.org
- Membership form on line will soon be interactive
- Can't post anything on websites that does not conform to National JWV policy
- Sites must be kept up-to-date
- Most important to use Internet and social media to attract members from younger military currently serving who are tech-savvy
