Subject: Helping Our Museum

  • Memorial Day Program
    • Everyone should go to their local congregations and remind them to read the names of the Fallen Heroes.
    • The list is available through http://www.nmajmh.org.
    • Third Annual Memorial Day Shabbat in Washington, DC will be held at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue. The families of the Fallen Heroes have been invited.
    • Please let us know in the beginning of June on whether or not your local program was successful.
  • Museum Exhibits
    • We’re still in fundraising mode for the new main exhibit.
    • We haven’t been able to move forward as much as we would like due to the need for building repairs.
    • We’re trying to do repairs on the weekend, so we don’t disrupt operations.
    • If you would like for the museum to have a specific exhibit, note what it would be, and how it would be funded.
  • Email blast
    • We sent one out just prior to Passover asking for donations explaining the conditions of the building.
    • We didn’t get any money in for the solicitation.
    • Some people disagreed with the timing of the email.
    • Some people said that they did not receive the email, why?
      • Not everyone is on the national email list serve. If you’re not on the list serve, or you’re not sure, email to get added.
      • Emails may have gone to spam folders.
      • People may have unsubscribed from the email list, not realizing that they’ve unsubscribed from ALL JWV/NMAJMH emails.
  • Convention: if you have a topic that needs to be addressed, please let us know.
  • Yahrzeits
    • This program is the best buy for people that the museum has – for $100 your loved one can be part of the museum. It preserves the memory of our family, friends, and comrades.
    • Posts should be purchasing Yahrzeits for key members, and they should be encouraging the families to purchase them as well.
  • Paver Program
    • The program is doing well; it’s brought in a little over $68,000.
    • It’s brought extra interest to our museum from the surrounding community – it’s an eye catcher for people passing by on the street.
    • Purchasing a paver is a way to become a permanent part of the museum. More Posts, Echelons, and Auxiliaries should be stepping up to participate.
    • Many Posts are merging and losing their identities. For this reason, it’s important for Posts to keep their names alive through purchasing a paver.
  • Membership
    • Too many of our JWV/JWVA members are not members of the museum.
    • Many Posts and Echelons are not members of the museum.
    • We need money to operate, and we can’t do it on the dues we collect.
    • Supporting our museum, our heritage, our history, depends on everyone’s involvement.
